If your business electricity is on an unbundled plan, you may notice that your electricity consumption and peak demand data in MyAccount may not be the same as your bill.
This is because MyAccount displays metered consumption data directly from Western Power that does not yet include the loss factors adjustment that your electricity bill includes.
- Metered consumption data is the amount of electricity used in kilowatt-hours (kWh), and are gathered directly from Western Power.
- Loss Factors are used to account for the electrical energy lost during transportation from the generation source to your premises. On average these losses are the equivalent of approximately 10% of the total electricity generated by power stations.
Your electricity bill will show the appropriate loss factor and costs. The loss charges are relatively small for most customers, typically between 1% to 5% of the total energy cost. Customers with sites located far from the major power stations and transmission lines may have loss charges of 10% or more.
